SENATOR TOLENTINO PROPOSES FLOATING HOSPITAL FOR PH

Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino proposed the establishment of a “floating hospital” for the Philippines during the Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines’ 49th annual convention on Saturday.

Tolentino emphasized the need for such a facility to provide medical assistance in remote and maritime areas, including attending to emergencies like the recent “hit-and-run” incident involving Filipino fishers in the West Philippine Sea.

He highlighted delays in medical evacuation for incidents such as these and stressed the potential of a floating hospital to serve as a swift responder during calamities affecting coastal and island communities, citing international examples from past disasters like Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
