TRO SOUGHT ONCE MORE AGAINST NAIA FEES AND CHARGES HIKE

Former Philippine Bar Association president Rico Domingo and lawyer Cesar Oracion have filed a motion urging the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the upcoming fee hike at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The scheduled increase, set for September 14, would raise the international passenger service charge from ₱550 to ₱950 and the domestic charge from ₱300 to ₱390.

Domingo and Oracion argue that the continued enforcement of the concession agreement between the government and New Naia Infra Corp. (NNIC) violates the rights of millions of airport users and lacks assurances of refunds if the petition succeeds.

They also raised concerns about the demolition of Naia Terminal 4, warning of further damage to public property under the current concession deal.

This petition follows similar legal actions filed by other groups seeking to stop the fee increases and void the public-private partnership agreement.
