Health reform advocate Tony Leachon has filed cyberlibel complaints against House Deputy Speaker Janette Garin at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office over alleged false and defamatory remarks in a Facebook video.
The complaint stemmed from a May 22 post in which Garin accused Leachon of “killing a patient without seeing the patient,” which he said damaged his professional reputation.
Leachon described the statement as an “assault” on his medical career, saying it caused concern among patients and undermined his credibility as a physician.
On the same day, he also filed a supplemental motion in a separate Ombudsman complaint, naming former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman in relation to alleged irregular transfers of billions in health funds.
He said the additional filing aims to ensure accountability among all officials allegedly involved in the questioned use of government funds.
