The Manila Police District revealed that the woman who performed a circumcision on a 10-year-old boy in Tondo, Manila, is not a licensed medical doctor.
The suspect, a senior citizen, allegedly impersonated a physician and had been previously arrested in 2023 for posing as a doctor at a lying-in clinic in the same area.
Despite her arrest, she was released on bail and recently carried out the circumcision again on May 17.
The boy suffered severe complications after the procedure and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Authorities also found that the clinic operated without proper permits, and an autopsy is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
