THIRD WEEK OF IMPEACHMENT TRIAL HIGHLIGHTS ALLEGED CONFIDENTIAL FUNDS FLOW

The prosecution in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial said the alleged misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds will be the focus of the trial’s third week and is expected to take up half of its allotted presentation time.

House prosecutors said they will present documents and witnesses to trace the flow of funds from cash advances to liquidation reports, including evidence that led the Commission on Audit to order the return of P448 million.

On Monday, senator-judges will vote on whether to subpoena Duterte’s bank, tax, and Anti-Money Laundering Council records, while Tuesday’s hearing will conclude testimony on the grave threats charge.

If completed, prosecutors will begin presenting the confidential funds case on Wednesday with key witnesses from the House and Land Bank.

The prosecution said it will rely on documentary evidence and witness testimony, including records allegedly showing irregularities in fund recipients and liquidation documents.
