A total of 187 illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers were recently deported by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for violating immigration laws.
The deportations are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal activities linked to the POGO industry, which has faced increasing scrutiny in recent months.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that the workers, mostly of Chinese nationality, were apprehended during a series of operations in various parts of the country.
The workers were found to be employed without the necessary permits, and their deportation aims to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.
Authorities have vowed to continue monitoring the POGO sector to prevent further violations.
