THE NEW SENATE BUILDING FACES FURTHER DELAYS, COMPLETION PUSHED TO 2026–2027

Senate President Chiz Escudero announced that the New Senate Building in Taguig is expected to be completed by December 2026 at the earliest, with a possible delay until December 2027.

He attributed the delay to the lack of a detailed architectural and engineering design (DAED), which was only finalized in December 2024.

Escudero assured that by the 21st Congress, senators would be working in the new facility.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano previously disclosed that the total cost of the project, including furniture and land, amounts to P33 billion, while the building alone costs P31.6 billion.

Concerns over cost escalations emerged after Escudero initiated a review of the project following Cayetano’s report of a significant increase in construction expenses.
