Vice Mayor Johnny Sevillana and nine members of Bagabag town’s Sangguniang Bayan in Nueva Vizcaya are planning to challenge their six-month suspension, issued by Governor Jose Gambito for alleged dereliction of duty and abuse of authority.
They intend to file a motion for reconsideration and seek a temporary restraining order against the suspension order issued last week.
Mayor Benigno Calauad initiated the suspension due to delays in town legislation and alleged mishandling of the Annual Investment Plan and budgetary matters.
Sevillana contests the order, arguing procedural lapses and lack of clarity on the suspension’s start date, and vows to continue their duties as SB members pending resolution of their appeal.
