A recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) found that 33% of adult Filipinos say their quality of life improved in the past 12 months. This is up from 29% in March 2023, and is classified as “very high” by SWS.
The survey, conducted from June 28 to July 1, 2023, also found that 45% of adult Filipinos say their quality of life remained the same in the past year, while 22% say it got worse.
The net gainer score, which is calculated by subtracting the percentage of losers from the percentage of gainers, is 11%. This is six points higher than the 5% in March 2023, but still below the pre-pandemic level of 18% in December 2019.
SWS classified gainers as those who believe their lives improved, while losers are those who believe their lives got worse.
Net gainers among non-hungry families increased to 13% from 5% in March 2023, but net gainers in overall hungry families, moderately hungry families, and severely hungry families all decreased.
The number of net gainers is highest in Metro Manila, reaching 16%, from a mere 2% in March this year. Net gainers in Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao also increased.
The SWS survey used face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adults aged 18 years old and above nationwide.
