Speaker Martin Romualdez, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, and two other officials allegedly tried to persuade former and current police officials to testify against Senator Ronald dela Rosa and former President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Dela Rosa claimed that Romualdez, Trillanes, House Appropriations Committee chair Rep. Zaldy Co, and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) chief Ricardo de Leon held private meetings with senior police officers to convince them to provide damaging affidavits.
Despite these efforts, the officers reportedly refused to implicate Dela Rosa and Duterte. Dela Rosa criticized the attempt as a political move aimed at discrediting Duterte and his allies.
