Senator Imee Marcos left the Senate’s group chat, citing “unproductive exchanges” that turned into personal attacks instead of legislative discussions.
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said everyone is entitled to their own opinion and denied slandering anyone in the chat.
Marcos expressed disappointment over the tone, describing the chat as a venue for infighting rather than unity.
Her departure reportedly followed a remark from Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, who urged her to attend hearings and stay updated on the flood control project investigations.
Sotto also noted that some senators have already extended help to areas affected by recent disasters.
