Snow Finally Returns to Mount Fuji After Record-Breaking Dry Spell!

Snow has finally dusted the peak of Mount Fuji after the longest stretch in history without its iconic snowcap. Photographs from local residents and authorities showed a thin layer of snow early Wednesday, signaling the end of a record-breaking wait.

The Japan Meteorological Agency hasn’t yet confirmed the new record for the latest snow arrival due to cloud cover at their monitoring station, but clearer skies in Fuji City revealed the snowy summit. This year marks the latest snow on Mount Fuji since records began in 1894, surpassing the previous record of October 26 set in 1955 and 2016. Experts attribute the delay to warmer-than-usual October temperatures and global warming.

With the chill settling in, the snow is expected to stay a while, giving Mount Fuji its much-awaited frosty look.
