A bill has been filed at the House of Representatives seeking the revocation of the franchise of Swara Sug Media Corporation, which operates Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI).
The bill cites alleged violations of the franchise, including the dissemination of false information and unauthorized transfer of ownership. It also cites SMNI’s failure to deliver balanced reporting, red-tagging, and fake news peddling.
The proposal comes a day after the House adopted a resolution urging the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to suspend Swara Sug’s franchise due to the alleged violations.
Additionally, SMNI’s transition to a corporation sole and subsequent transfer of controlling interest without congressional approval are highlighted as violations.
The bill argues that failure to report these changes automatically revokes the franchise. It aims to address the alleged violations and hold SMNI accountable.
