SENATE POSTPONES READING OF SARA DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT ARTICLES TO JUNE 11

Senate President Chiz Escudero has postponed the reading of impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte from June 2 to June 11 to prioritize key legislative measures.

The Senate aims to focus on 12 priority bills before the 19th Congress adjourns, including amendments to various laws and government reforms.

Escudero also highlighted the need to review hundreds of presidential appointments before proceeding with the impeachment.

The impeachment complaint, endorsed by over 215 House members, contains seven articles and was set for pre-trial starting June 2.

The Senate plans to begin the formal trial after the new senators are sworn in, likely on July 30.
