SENATE DIRECTS ARRESTS OF ALICE GUO, AND OTHERS FOR OBSTRUCTING POGO INVESTIGATION

The Senate has issued an official arrest order for suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, and seven others following their repeated non-appearance in hearings investigating Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

Signed by Senate President Francis Escudero and Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the order directs Guo to be detained until she complies with the Senate’s summons or purges herself of contempt.

The decision comes after Guo and others were cited for obstructing the inquiry into illegal POGOs, with the Senate deeming her reasons for absence, including health concerns, as unacceptable amidst serious allegations.
