Sen. Loren Legarda has extended her medical leave from Aug. 17 to 19, according to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug.
Legarda has been absent from Senate sessions and the impeachment trial since Aug. 3 after reportedly traveling to France, with her office previously filing medical leave requests for Aug. 3 to 5 and Aug. 11 to 12.
Her continued absence comes as the Office of the Ombudsman conducts a preliminary investigation into plunder and graft complaints involving Legarda and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste.
Legarda has denied the allegations as “utterly false and baseless” and urged the public not to attach political narratives to her leave or travels.
Her office has not disclosed the specific nature or diagnosis of her illness.
