Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, is believed to be hiding in a deep underground bunker within the KOJC compound in Davao City, according to police officials.
Life detector equipment has confirmed signs of life underground, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) is focusing on locating the bunker’s entrance despite resistance from KOJC members.
Tensions escalated during a rally outside the compound, resulting in injuries to seven police officers and the arrest of three KOJC members.
The police have requested additional forces and are investigating allegations of self-inflicted injuries among KOJC members to falsely accuse the police.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and local authorities are urging peaceful protests while the search continues and travel disruptions affect flights from Davao International Airport.
