Senate President Chiz Escudero denied the existence of any official resolution to dismiss Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, calling circulating documents “mere scraps of paper” without proper filing or approval.
The rumors, confirmed to be circulating by Sen. Imee Marcos, sparked allegations that the Senate was delaying the proceedings.
Duterte ally Sen. Bong Go also denied seeing any such resolution but offered to help trace its origin.
Later, Sen. Bato Dela Rosa admitted that the resolution came from his office but said he acted independently without instructions from the vice president.
The Senate has faced criticism, particularly from the House, for allegedly stalling the trial ahead of the congressional break.
