The Department of Education (DepEd) has reiterated its no-collection during that basic education remains free for elementary and high school students.
According to DepEd Memorandum 41, signed by Education Secretary Sonny Angara on August 2, the sale of tickets or collection of contributions from students and teachers is strictly prohibited.
Violators of this policy could face imprisonment or fines under Republic Act 4206. Angara also reminded DepEd personnel of the agency’s code of conduct, which forbids unwarranted solicitations.
Exceptions to this policy include membership fees for organizations like the Red Cross and the Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines, as well as contributions supporting barrio high schools.
