Vice President Sara Duterte faced backlash from Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos after she made derogatory comments about the Marcos family, claiming she “crossed the line” in her criticism.
In a statement, Marcos expressed his disappointment, saying he could no longer remain silent while Duterte threatened to “exhume a former president” and “behead an incumbent one.”
He emphasized that her remarks were offensive not only to his family but also to the nation, and he called for a return to civility in political discourse.
Meanwhile, Senator Imee Marcos’s son, Matthew Marcos Manotoc, expressed shock over Duterte’s attacks on his mother, highlighting their previous friendship.
Duterte’s harsh criticism of President Marcos included remarks on his leadership abilities, to which he responded only with a smile during a media encounter.
