The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former vice president Jejomar Binay, former Makati mayor Jejomar Binay Jr., and several others of charges linked to the alleged overpricing of the ₱2.2-billion Makati City Parking Building project.
In its 202-page ruling, the court said the prosecution failed to prove the accused’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for charges of falsification, malversation, and violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Also cleared were numerous Makati city officials and two private individuals, while charges against three others were dismissed due to their deaths during the trial.
The case stemmed from complaints filed in 2016 and follows a 2019 Court of Appeals ruling that previously cleared the Binays of administrative liabilities in the same case.
The Sandiganbayan had also acquitted the Binays in December 2024 in another graft case involving the ₱ 1.3 billion Makati Science High School building.
