President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday launched “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang,” a program to strengthen local government units (LGUs) in delivering aid and services to their communities.
The event at Malacañang Palace was attended by prominent local leaders, including former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.
For 2026, the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) allocation was increased to P58 billion to finance projects such as rice assistance for over five million families, multipurpose halls, evacuation centers, farm-to-market roads, water systems, and electrification initiatives.
The program empowers LGUs to implement projects independently of political influence, allowing them to prioritize local needs and streamline the delivery of health, infrastructure, and climate-resilient projects.
Mayor Sotto highlighted that Pasig has already submitted proposals for green and blue space development, illustrating how the direct-to-LGU funding enhances autonomy and accelerates local development.
