Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque dismissed the Department of Justice’s plan to request an Interpol red notice against him, citing his pending asylum petition in the Netherlands as protection.
Roque criticized former senator Leila de Lima for suggesting his flight indicates guilt and threatened to file a complaint against her for alleged dishonesty.
He also engaged in a public spat with Duterte ally Salvador Panelo, who urged him to return to the Philippines and face the charges, but Roque countered that Panelo misunderstood asylum laws.
Meanwhile, the Palace defended its efforts to track Roque, saying the search is a lawful enforcement of arrest warrants and urging Roque to return voluntarily to avoid wasting public funds.
Roque maintains he is seeking asylum due to political persecution by the Marcos administration.
