Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, currently in Germany after his asylum petition in the Netherlands was denied, challenged Philippine authorities to “come and get me.”
In response, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro told Roque to “wait and see,” warning him not to underestimate government intelligence reports.
Roque faces qualified human trafficking charges linked to his involvement with the Philippine offshore gaming operator Lucky South 99.
The Department of Justice is gathering more information before deciding on an extradition request.
Justice Secretary Boying Remulla added that if Roque’s passport is canceled, he could be arrested abroad as an undocumented alien without the need for extradition.
