Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez is prepared to answer any complaint filed against him and is confident the evidence will support his position, his spokesperson, lawyer Elaine Atienza, said on Friday.
Her statement came after reports that a special panel of investigators from the Office of the Ombudsman launched a preliminary investigation into complaints of plunder, bribery, graft, and Anti-Money Laundering Act violations linked to the flood control controversy.
The complaint seeks to determine whether there is probable cause to file charges against Romualdez before the Sandiganbayan.
Atienza said the former House Speaker is ready to address the allegations through the proper legal process and believes a fair evaluation of the evidence will vindicate him.
She also urged the public to allow the legal proceedings to run their course before making judgments.
