REMULLA BROTHERS HEAD TO FRANCE TO PURSUE PHILIPPINE CRIMINAL SUSPECTS

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla are planning separate trips to France to coordinate with Interpol and French authorities in efforts to locate and pursue Filipinos facing criminal charges, including former congressman Zaldy Co.

The DILG chief said he will personally follow up on a possible Interpol Red Notice for Co. At the same time, the Ombudsman plans to discuss with French authorities efforts to pursue other corruption suspects believed to be hiding in the country.

The Sandiganbayan has issued arrest warrants in connection with a PHP7.4-billion plunder case involving former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Co, and two other individuals, while authorities continue manhunt operations.

Senator Panfilo Lacson said the arrest of Romualdez demonstrates the administration’s political will to hold officials accountable, while DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon stressed that detention and judicial procedures must be applied equally.

Meanwhile, USWAG Ilonggo Party-list Rep. Jojo Ang pleaded not guilty to two graft charges involving alleged conflicts of interest in government infrastructure projects, with his pre-trial set for September 15.
