The Commission on Elections reported that the number of registered voters has risen to around 71 million ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for November 2026.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the figure is higher than the 68 million recorded in the 2025 national and local elections, with youth voter registration alone reaching about 25 million.
He added that around 5.6 million new voters registered between October 2025 and May 2026, reflecting strong public engagement ahead of the polls.
The Comelec is ramping up preparations, including precinct validation, voter list updates, and coordination with local government units to ensure orderly elections.
Voter registration is expected to resume in 2027 after the synchronized barangay and youth council elections conclude.
