The 2nd Gov. Henry Oaminal Open Chess Tournament will take place on July 9-10 at AYA Hotel and Residences, featuring the country’s top chess players.
Organized by the Asenso Misamis Occidental Fiderated Chess Association (AMOFCA) and local government units, the FIDE-rated rapid chess competition offers a total cash prize of P355,000.
The open champion will receive P50,000, with prizes for runners-up and top finishers in various categories, including high school and elementary players.
The event is part of the 76th City Charter Anniversary and the feast of Nuestra Sra. dela Concepcion y del Triunfo de Migpangi.
Asia’s first grandmaster, Eugene Torre, along with local officials, will make the ceremonial moves.
