QUEZON CITY MAYOR CALLS FOR BUSINESS COOPERATION IN MPOX CONTACT TRACING

Amid rising mpox cases, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has urged local businesses to cooperate with the city’s contact tracers.

The city confirmed over the weekend that one mpox case detected by the Department of Health (DOH) involves a Quezon City resident.

In response, Belmonte has activated prevention and control protocols, provided orientation for healthcare workers, and established a task force to enhance the city’s response to mpox.

Recently, the local government shut down two establishments for refusing contact tracing, citing a threat to public health.

The DOH reported three additional mpox cases on Sunday, bringing the total to 17, with eight patients currently active.
