Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte thanked Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon for his swift response to flooding concerns in parts of the city.
The city’s engineering department is now working with the Department of Transportation, MMDA, and MRT-7 management to sustain clearing operations and address construction-related obstructions.
Belmonte commended MRT-7 management for promptly clearing debris from construction sites that had blocked drainage systems, although San Miguel Corp. Infrastructure denied that the project caused the flooding.
She emphasized the importance of a unified approach in tackling the root causes of flooding and protecting affected communities.
A state of calamity has been declared in Quezon City to expedite response efforts, with over P485 million allocated for garbage trucks, infrastructure repairs, and medical needs.
