QUEZON CITY COURT ISSUES ARREST WARRANT VS. VP DUTERTE

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court has issued an arrest warrant against Vice President Sara Duterte over three counts of grave threats filed by the Department of Justice.

The charges stem from her November 2024 remarks claiming she had hired someone to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez if she were killed.

The court set bail at P120,000 for each count after finding probable cause to hold Duterte for trial.

Duterte’s lawyers said they would immediately attend to the matter and post bail, while the DOJ maintained that the criminal case can proceed alongside her ongoing impeachment trial.

Malacañang said it respects the court’s decision, although Duterte’s former legal counsel Salvador Panelo questioned the warrant and argued that immunity from suit should also apply to the Vice President.
