PSC LAUNCHES “SUPER TEAM” TO BOOST SPORTS TOURISM IN THE PHILIPPINES

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) welcomed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s creation of the National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee (NST-IAC) through Administrative Order No. 38, aimed at coordinating government efforts to develop and promote sports tourism in the Philippines.

PSC Chair Patrick Gregorio was appointed chairman of the committee, with counterparts from the Department of Tourism and other key agencies serving as members.

Gregorio highlighted sports as a driver of youth development, regional growth, tourism, and new industries, emphasizing partnerships with local governments and the Department of Education.

The NST-IAC follows the country’s successful hosting of international events such as the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup and the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Championship, with upcoming events including the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup and Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

The committee aims to position the Philippines as a premier sports destination, generate employment, attract investments, and boost infrastructure and tourism in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.
