The Philippine Sports Commission has awarded incentives to 96 athletes and 52 coaches following Team Philippines’ campaign in the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, where the country secured 45 gold medals.
PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio and Sen. Bong Go led the awarding ceremony, emphasizing equal recognition and stronger support for para-athletes’ achievements.
Officials noted that the performance marked a significant improvement, with the country placing fourth overall in the regional competition.
A total of millions in cash incentives were distributed, while calls continue for the passage of a bill equalizing rewards between para-athletes and able-bodied athletes.
Sports officials and advocates stressed that continued government and private sector support could further elevate Philippine performance in future international events.
