The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is urging Filipinos to download and use their Digital National ID to access more convenient and secure government and private services.
The Digital National ID is an official electronic version of the PhilSys ID, accessible through the eGovPH app or the national ID website, and is accepted by banks and other BSP-supervised institutions once verified.
PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa emphasized that the digital ID provides a reliable and secure way to prove identity via smartphone, but warned against unauthorized printing of the ID, which is punishable by law.
The initiative is part of a broader effort with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to improve digital access and reduce bureaucracy.
The PSA assured the public that the digital ID holds the same legal validity as the physical card and is protected by strict data privacy and security measures.
