A House panel has requested the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to verify the civil registry records of 677 individuals listed as recipients of confidential funds under the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
The request follows the discovery of a fictitious name, “Mary Grace Piattos,” used in OVP documents to justify fund disbursements. House Committee on Good Government chair Joel Chua formally asked PSA to authenticate the birth, marriage, and death records of these individuals.
Lawmakers have raised concerns over possible systemic fraud involving PHP500 million in confidential funds disbursed from late 2022 to 2023.
The PSA confirmed no records exist for “Piattos,” intensifying calls for a thorough investigation into the credibility of the OVP’s liquidation reports.
