PRIVATE EDUCATION SECTOR BACKS ANGARA’S LEADERSHIP WITH COMMITMENT TO COLLABORATE

Private schools under the Coordinating Council of Private Education Association (COCOPEA) have voiced their support for new Education Secretary Sonny Angara, expressing enthusiasm for collaborative efforts to enhance the country’s education system.

In an open letter, COCOPEA highlighted its eagerness to work with Angara and address educational needs through improved quality, public-private partnerships, and expanded government aid.

On his first day, Angara convened top DepEd officials to prepare for the 2024-2025 school year and discussed urgent policies.

Several DepEd officials, including Undersecretary Michael Poa, resigned to allow Angara to form his team, and Angara is currently seeking replacements.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has requested a suspension of performance-based incentives for teachers and called for dialogue on salary increases and other critical education issues, amid concerns over recent directives conflicting with President Marcos’ Executive Order 61.
