A school principal in Laua-an, Antique, has been removed from her post after a viral video showed her berating senior high school students for wearing togas during their graduation ceremony.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the action was taken following President Marcos’ directive, with Education Secretary Sonny Angara immediately addressing the issue.
While the principal was dismissed from her administrative role, her teaching license remains intact, and she is still permitted to work in other schools.
The incident sparked backlash online after the principal ordered students to remove their togas and asked class advisers to record the names of those who violated the dress code.
The Department of Education later clarified that while school uniforms are the recommended attire, wearing togas is not prohibited during graduation ceremonies.
