Local chief executives in the Camanava area (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela) have warned traders against raising prices of basic commodities, emphasizing that a 60-day price freeze is in effect following severe flooding from Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
The mayors have activated task forces to monitor prices in markets and urged the public to report any violations of the price freeze.
The freeze, enforced by the Department of Trade and Industry, covers essential items like milk, bread, and canned goods.
Additionally, Camanava officials praised SM Supermalls and SM Foundation for their relief efforts, particularly for those in evacuation centers.
They also highlighted the malls’ role in providing employment opportunities through job fairs in the region.
