The government is investigating the response of the Unified 911 system to a medical emergency in Taguig that preceded the death of a 71-year-old man from a heart attack.
The Taguig government said incomplete location details provided by 911 contributed to delays in dispatching emergency assistance, with the ambulance arriving about 20 minutes after the call ended.
The PNP said it will support the investigation to determine whether there were shortcomings in the response and identify possible improvements to the emergency system.
Officials stressed that 911 operators assess calls and coordinate with police, fire and medical emergency services, while callers are urged to provide complete location details and remain on the line.
Authorities said the investigation will also examine claims about the handling of the call and determine whether changes are needed to prevent similar incidents.
