The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that there are no detected security threats for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil stated that they are refining traffic management plans to minimize public inconvenience and designated areas for protests will be provided with law enforcers exercising “maximum tolerance.”
Marbil emphasized the importance of ensuring protests do not cause public inconvenience and addressed concerns about checkpoint operations, clarifying that both motorcycles and cars are checked.
The SONA, mandated by the Constitution to occur annually on the last Monday of July, will feature the President delivering a detailed report on the state of the country and setting the agenda for Congress.
Marbil assured the public there was no cause for concern regarding the event’s security.
