Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has chosen to focus on addressing the needs of PNP personnel affected by Typhoon Carina rather than engaging with Vice President Sara Duterte’s claims of political harassment over the removal of 75 police officers from her security detail.
Marbil, through PNP public information officer Col. Jean Fajardo, emphasized that the PNP is prioritizing the welfare of officers and has directed attention away from political disputes.
Duterte had criticized Marbil for allegedly misrepresenting the reasons for the removal and expressed concerns about her family’s safety.
Fajardo denied any surveillance operations on Duterte and confirmed that PNP officers removed from her detail have been reassigned.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Security Command (PSC) assured Duterte of continued protection, despite the changes in her security arrangement.
