The Philippine National Police (PNP) rescued a one-month-old baby allegedly sold on Facebook for P90,000 in Pasay City during an entrapment operation on July 3.
The National Authority for Child Care (NACC) condemned the illegal online sale of babies, urging parents to seek help from social welfare offices instead of exploiting their children.
The PNP Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) has intensified efforts against online baby selling, rescuing 11 children and arresting 16 perpetrators this year.
Authorities have identified 12 Facebook groups with approximately 200,000 followers that are involved in facilitating these illegal transactions.
The NACC and other agencies have formed an inter-agency task force to combat this disturbing trend and ensure proper care for rescued children.
