PISTON SEEKS NEW TRO FROM SC AGAINST PUBLIC TRANSPORT MODERNIZATION PROGRAM

Members of the transport group Piston protested outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday, demanding a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).

The group, which has petitioned the Court to review the constitutionality of orders from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), argues that these orders infringe on constitutional rights and violate cooperative regulations.

Piston President Jason Fahilagutan also expressed gratitude to the 22 senators who have supported a review of the program.

He urged that while modernization proceeds for those ready, exceptions should be made for the remaining operators to continue their livelihoods.

This marks Piston’s fifth protest at the Supreme Court seeking a TRO against the PTMP.
