Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa praised the Philippines’ economic performance under President Marcos and highlighted the growing interest of Thai firms in expanding investments during a bilateral meeting with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo in Makati City.
Sangiampongsa commended the Philippines as one of the fastest-growing economies in the region and expressed Bangkok’s commitment to increasing trade and investment volumes.
He also emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in trade facilitation, renewable energy, and food security, as well as expanding flight routes to boost tourism between Cebu and Phuket.
Additionally, Thailand and the Philippines aim to strengthen collaboration against transnational crimes, including trafficking and cybercrimes in Southeast Asia.
Sangiampongsa reiterated Thailand’s support for coordinated ASEAN actions to combat these criminal networks and assist victims.
