The Philippines and the United States have finalized negotiations on a critical intelligence-sharing agreement to address mutual concerns, particularly regarding China’s activities in the West Philippine Sea.
The General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) is set to undergo final legal clearance before the end of the year, following approval by negotiating panels from both countries in late June.
The agreement will formalize the timely sharing of security information and establish protocols to protect classified data and military assets.
Tightened security measures, including enhanced surveillance systems and cybersecurity training, have been implemented across Philippine military facilities in preparation for the pact’s implementation.
