The Philippines will host the inaugural La Union International Pro, a Longboard International qualifying event, from January 20 to 24 at Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan.
The tournament will feature one of the largest international fields in World Surf League (WSL) longboard competitions and will award four spots on the 2026 WSL Longboard Tour.
WSL Longboard Tour director Will Hayden-Smith highlighted the event’s goal of giving longboarders from all regions greater access to the global stage.
Philippine Sports Commission Chair Patrick Gregorio praised the event as a boost for sports tourism and a chance for Filipino surfers to showcase their skills on home waves.
The competition will use a seeding formula based on the Challenger Series, ensuring top surfers worldwide have the opportunity to compete.
