PHILIPPINES REPATRIATES 9 STRANDED SEAFARERS FROM YEMEN

The government has repatriated nine Filipino seafarers stranded aboard an oil tanker at Yemen’s Ras Isa Port amid escalating conflict in the region.

The crew, employed on the MV Rival, had been stuck for several months due to fighting near the port.

They arrived safely in Manila on June 3, with the Department of Migrant Workers coordinating their return alongside embassies in Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival, the seafarers received financial aid, medical check-ups, and psychosocial counseling.

The government is currently housing them and their families in a hotel as they undergo evaluations before returning to their home provinces.
