The Philippines and New Zealand have successfully concluded their inaugural maritime dialogue in Pasay City, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation.
The talks, attended by officials from both countries, focused on reaffirming the importance of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award.
Both nations emphasized their commitment to upholding a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific and the peaceful resolution of maritime disputes.
Discussions also covered existing cooperation in maritime security and marine environmental protection, while exploring new collaborative opportunities.
The dialogue follows a productive meeting between President Marcos Jr. and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and sets the stage for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
