The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Republic of Korea, has launched a regional program to train Filipino youth for green and digital construction jobs.
The initiative unveiled in Manila on June 26, promotes enterprise-based learning, regional skills standards, and training for educators across ASEAN.
DOLE Undersecretary Carmela I. Torres emphasized aligning workforce development with global trends in sustainability and digitalization to meet rising labor demands.
The International Labour Organization (ILO), which is leading implementation, highlighted the Philippines’ role as a pathfinder country under the UN Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection.
The program also received backing from major industry and labor groups and will help shape ASEAN-wide training curricula by 2026.
