The Philippines emphasized the significance of a recently approved declaration by world leaders, known as the Pact for the Future, which outlines action guidelines for addressing global issues.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo praised the pact as a testament to the effectiveness of multilateralism and its role in promoting peace and resolving conflicts without the use of force.
He highlighted that the summit aims to forge a new international consensus focused on multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow.
Manalo reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to the UN Charter and the principles of a rules-based order, which he believes are crucial for global peace and cooperation.
The pact, along with the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations, was adopted by consensus despite last-minute amendments proposed by certain countries that were ultimately rejected.
